Check Your Coolant Level
First, wait until your engine is completely cool to the touch. The last thing you want is to start off with a burn from a hot radiator cap. Next, find your radiator and the coolant reservoir; they're usually placed at the front of your vehicle. The coolant reservoir has minimum and maximum levels marked on it, and your coolant level should be somewhere between the two. If it's below the minimum, you need to add coolant as soon as possible.
How to Add Coolant to Your Audi
First, mix the coolant with distilled water (as per your manufacturer's directives). Remove the reservoir or radiator cap (if your model lacks a coolant reservoir), add the coolant mix into the reservoir or radiator, until you reach the correct level. Replace the relevant cap, while making sure that it's firmly secured.
How to Bleed The Cooling System
While not necessarily something a layperson expects to do, eliminating air pockets that may have formed during the process is a smart way to maximize coolant circulation. Again, this is something you'll want to let the engine cool prior to tackling.
Search for the bleeder valve, which is typically found near the thermostat housing or top radiator hose. Using a wrench, carefully open the bleeder valve, watching until you see a bubble-free flow of coolant continuously flowing from the pipe. At that point, firmly shut the bleeder valve and clean up. You're done, and ready to hit the road for adventure!
